She called her a treasure because she IS a treasure.

Their CR was pretty positive from the start - at least, from Flayn's end, anyway! Mitsuri didn't have to help her out with the crabs, but she did, and they had a good time doing it. The fact that she taught her and helped her to do it herself rather than just doing it for her or roping other people into doing it for her meant the world to her, and it kind of set the tone for their CR.

Even when Flayn got mildly annoyed (in... her mostly polite way) with her for being protective, she was able to understand that it came from a positive place, and she appreciated it.

All in all, Mitsuri is definitely the kind of person Flayn would have loved to spend time with in literally any other context than this one.

Exceeeeeept for the one itty, bitty sticking point of everything that happened to Mitsuri's castmates. That last execution was a lot, and Flayn - who is still 100% sure Shinobu is not the one who murdered her - feels really guilty that Mitsuri had to witness Dimitri kill both of her important people, especially since in Shinobu's case it was motivated by revenge. Is it Flayn's fault, really? No. Is she gonna feel guilty about it anyway? YOU BET. Whenever I get off my ass and tag the farewell mingle, it's going to be awkward, and I'm going to be living for it.

Oh, Giyuu.

On the one hand - it wasn't like she ever really disliked Giyuu himself! He was kind to her, ate her crappy food, and listened to her when she was struggling a bit.

On the other hand - Flayn has beef with The Island as a whole for the entire situation they found themselves in, and Giyuu is unfortunately the face of it.

She didn't really suspect him of being the Mastermind until Dimitri went on the warpath, at which point everything started to make an unfortunate amount of sense. While she likes him very much as a person, it's hard to separate the curse from the person in her mind (though she's definitely trying). On the other hand, she also feels pretty awful that Shinobu got caught up in all of that, and that he had to see her die in such a horrible way. Mastermind or not, she doesn't think either of them deserved that.

She's glad he's okay, but she's also really, really upset that Dimitri ended up with his blood on his hands - doubly so because she knows Dimitri really liked him, too.

tl;dr there's a lot of complicated feelings here and Flayn has no heckin clue what to do about any of them! Haha.

good lord where do i even begin

GOD, OKAY, SO TAKING THEM FROM SEPARATE ROUTES hurt me a lot (which I am sure you'll say I deserve and which is also valid). It was really fun to see where their CR did end up, because while we know from canon that they have the potential to be friendly with each other, we were starting them off from a point where they... well, they weren't. At least not mutually.

Even with their concerns about their memories not lining up, though, Dimitri was always kind and supportive to her, which... given the entire situation, was something that Flayn sorely needed. Still, he worried her. Steady as he was, she knows that he has a tendency to look out for others at his own expense... which is why she set out to bother him so often. If he was going to look out for her, it's only fair that she look out for him in her own way! And since she didn't have access to her healing magic here, she'd just have to make sure he ate and slept properly.

It ended up working for them, even if there were a few times when Flayn wondered if she was being too pushy. He remembered being friends with a Flayn, after all - but they were both painfully aware that the Flayn he knew wasn't her.

...but, conversely, the Flayn he knew from his memories in the Monastery isn't the one that was here with him on Murder Island! And the Dimitri she knew wasn't the one that was here with her. Whatever the discrepancy with their memories were, they share their memories of the island, and the promise they made to make it out of here helped her a lot more than she ever was able to say.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand then she died. Awkward.

At that point, she knew the numbers didn't look good, and since she didn't think there was a way out for herself, she really wanted to make sure that at least he made it out of there. How did she do that? By... haunting him. And by haunting Kasane to ask her to try and encourage him to make it home safely. (Which, lol.)

She, uh, she didn't think he was going to end up McMurdering Shinobu and Giyuu, though. That is not how she expected that to go at all, and she feels really, really guilty about him getting blood on his hands in her name. But at the same time, him going feral ... ended up getting them all home?

Sometimes murder really is the answer.

She's not sure what to do about that yet. She's not sure what to do about the fact that if they do go home, it is most likely going to be to the Monasteries of their memories - which means that the Dimitri back where she comes from won't remember her, and vice versa. Honestly, she has no idea how to even begin approaching that.

They're going to have some stuff to work through once I'm done procrastinating and actually start doing my tags. IT'S MESSY. WE'RE NOT EVEN SHIPPING AND IT'S MESSY.

Which is absolutely delightful and I'm really glad we got to be Femblems together!! Thank you so much for this, I had a really good time and I hope you did too even though I was tormenting you the whole way through this game.

Honestly despite the shadiness Flayn had pretty overwhelmingly positive feelings about Shinobu right up until the RECORD SCRATCH moment.

Even taking that into account, though, her feelings aren't really negative either. They're mostly mixed. She's completely sure that Shinobu lied, but she thinks she can understand the reason why she did so - to protect someone she loves. It was a noble gesture, and Flayn isn't quite sure she wouldn't have attempted to do something similar if it had been someone important to her under suspicion.

But still, she lied.

And since killing Giyuu ultimately ended up saving them all - which Flayn is honestly really confused about because she was attempting to begin making her peace with being an Island Ghost forever - she can't help but wonder: what if it had ended there? What would have happened if Dimitri had taken Shinobu's life, and Giyuu had been able to overpower Dimitri? What would have happened to Shinobu and all of the other dead then?

There's a lot of what-ifs, and what Flayn hates most of all is that the bloodshed was really necessary. She still doesn't dislike Shinobu at all! But it's definitely awkward. She never wanted anyone to kill for her sake, and Shinobu bluffing about being responsible for her death ended in Dimitri having a lot of blood on his hands in the name of revenge. Shinobu suffered, and Giyuu suffered watching it, and Mitsuri suffered watching them both, and Flayn keeps looping back to "Dang, what if I'd spoken up about not feeling well earlier in the week and hadn't died of poison?"

Soooo basically while Shinobu is someone she admires for her strength, looking at her brings on a lot of guilty feelings and I rEALLY HOPE THEY MANAGE TO WORK IT OUT ONCE I CAN GET OFF MY BUTT AND GET TO THREADING AAAAA.

AAAAAAAAAA C-3PO.

Flayn legitimately had no freaking idea what to make of him when they first met. He really did look like some sort of weird suit of armor! What the heck is an Outer Rim? Spaceships? What????

But him not being human had no bearing on the fact that he was really nice! She can definitely appreciate that - and besides, [redacted] means she's not all that fussed about non-humans in the first place. Ultimately, he had the personality of someone she would like to spend time with! She greatly admired the way he stuck to his guns at the first trial and was just... himself, no matter what the island tried to change any of them into.

And then, of course, there's his involvement in The Great Swerve From Bad End to Golden End.

Even if he did blow Akane up (oops, darn those lightsabers), his discussion with Dimitri and his drive to talk to the manager get to the bottom of things played a major enough role in how things turned out that she partially feels like she owes her life to him. So, uh... thanks, roomba? Flayn owes you a life debt now.

tl;dr she still doesn't get a lot of what C-3PO's about, but her feelings on him are pretty positive!

sisi i'm going to be entirely real their cr started because i thought it would be funny to have her throw fruit at him and i'm so glad it snowballed into what it was.

ANYWAY.

I'm really excited for CRAU and getting to bother you again there, because they were really fun and I'm like 95% sure I'm going to throw her there, which means this tl;cr is only the beginning!!

Flayn's impression of Yin Yu at the start was that he was a steady, reliable person, and that he was very kind. There are people who would have handled her throwing things at them and calling them a ghost with far less grace, after all! Her impression of him now is ... pretty much the same! She still has no idea he was the one behind Wen Ning's death - zombie buddy kept that secret even beyond the grave. Even if she found out, I'm not sure how much she'd really be able to hold it against him. After all, if his victim isn't angry... how can she be?

But the truth is she doesn't know, and probably won't know, so she'll happily go on remembering him as the very kind not-a-ghost who helped make sure that all of the victims were laid to rest. She slept a little easier at Waterfall Camp knowing he was there, and was super grateful that he had a braincell on their jungle adventure! He's definitely the kind of person she would like to spend more time with if she could.

She's very glad to be going home (or so she thinks, haha), but she will miss him a lot. For lack of a less cliched phrase, meeting Yin Yu was one of the silver linings of her whole experience on Murder Island.

i'm still so confused about everything about his canon AND SO IS FLAYN.

But! Even though they didn't really talk as much as they could have, and even though she doesn't really understand him as well as she would have liked to, she did like him when she spoke to him. Doubly so when it turned out that he was getting along with Dimitri too - she did, uh, kind of worry about his ability to make friends, not that she really needed to - and then he went and died.

And we all know that he was pretty happy about it, but... she was sad to have lost the chance to get to know him as well as she would have liked. After all, someone Dimitri enjoyed the company of couldn't have been a bad person!

...which then ended up turning into >someone Wen Ning likes is great, obviously. She ships it. I didn't get to tag it in the graveyard but Flayn is pretty into romance and she's just like, two thumbs up, GET IT, ANAIDO. As long as he's happy, and he's making Wen Ning happy, whatever happens next can only be good.

Also Anaido taught Wen Ning to fingergun and then Wen Ning taught her to fingergun in turn, so I hope you know that she's going to bring fingerguns to FE3H canon and this is entirely his fault.

aaaaaaaa teej I DIDN'T THINK SHE WAS GOING TO END UP LIKING THE ZOMBIE AS MUCH AS SHE DID??? how did this happen

I was fully prepared for her to be kind of afraid of him, actually! But then he was just very, very soft. The "you need medical attention" thread was kind of where she was like - oh! He's nice! If he's up and walking around and talking, he's a person! And she just kind of resolved to do her best not to let the whole "living corpse" thing bother her.

Also, if he was going to be like "Well, I'm already dead..." when the voice was talking about people needing to die... she wanted to look out for him!

Which ultimately did not end up happening and he so cruelly became DOUBLE DEAD.

But he came back as a ghost! Which, yikes, but she was really, truly glad to see him, even if I didn't get to have her get so surprised that she fell over the waterfall and died. Wen Ning's entire everything just kind of... resonated with Flayn in a way where she was like "yeah, okay" even though the circumstances being even a little different might have resulted in her being hecking terrified.

She really appreciated his support during the trial and the execution, and she's incredibly (EYES EMOJI) about his Thing with Anaido. He!! Found!! Love!! And she is delighted, even if she hasn't had the chance to tease him about it because they had other Priorities before they got brought back to life.

Once I dive back into tags Wen Ning will not know a moment's peace.
